Developing a Course of Study

A course of study is a comprehensive plan, which indicates the scope, and teaching sequence of all the learning activities provided for a particular course. It serves as a teacher’s road map.

What are the basic components of a course of study?
A formal written document that contains:
Title:
Course Description: A general description of the course.
Course Content: Usually 2 or 3 paragraphs.
Course Goals and Objectives:
Time allocations:
References:
Supplies and Equipment:

It doesn’t need to be detailed but it should serve as a general guide for the teacher. It should also be flexible and should promote integration through the identification of common skills and processes.

I’m done with the preschool curriculum. So, I decided to develop a course of study for the toddler class. It’s not done yet but I’m posting it. Click
